SMS/TEXT MESSAGE CONSENT POLICY

OVERVIEW

De Leon Tax Services (“we,” “us,” or “our”) uses SMS (text) messages to provide clients with timely updates related to our services, such as appointment reminders, security verifications, and important account notices. Participation is voluntary and requires your prior consent as described below.

HOW WE COLLECT CONSENT

1) TEXT (REPLY) OPT-IN

After you provide your mobile number, we may send a one-time message asking you to confirm enrollment.

Example: “Reply YES to receive appointment reminders, service updates, and alerts from De Leon Tax Services.”

Your reply of YES confirms your consent. We log the date/time, phone number, and consent event.

2) WRITTEN OPT-IN (FORMS/PORTAL)

When you complete intake forms or schedule online, you may be asked to check a box agreeing to receive SMS messages.

Example language: “I consent to receive SMS text messages from De Leon Tax Services regarding appointments, account updates, and service notifications.”

Your submission is stored with a timestamp and source.

3) VERBAL OPT-IN (PHONE/IN-PERSON)

When scheduling by phone or in person, our staff may ask:

“Would you like to receive text reminders and updates from De Leon Tax Services at this number?”

If you agree, staff record your consent in our system with date/time and staff initials.

Recordkeeping: We maintain consent and opt-out records to comply with carrier and industry requirements.

MESSAGE CATEGORIES & FREQUENCY

  • ACCOUNT NOTIFICATIONS: appointment confirmations/reminders, schedule changes, document requests, balance/payment and refund updates.

  • SECURITY: two-step verification codes and account-security alerts.

  • CUSTOMER CARE: responses to your questions and service follow-ups.

  • MARKETING (OPTIONAL): service announcements or special offers. (Only sent if you’ve opted in; frequency is low and varies seasonally.)

HOW TO OPT OUT

You can cancel SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. You’ll receive one final confirmation text, and then you will no longer receive messages from us at that number.

You may also opt out by emailing it-admin@deleontax.com or calling (916) 235-3339. Please include your full name and the mobile number to unsubscribe.

FEES & DELIVERY

Message and data rates may apply. Messages may be sent via automatic telephone dialing systems. Delivery is subject to your mobile carrier’s network performance; we are not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages.

DATA WE COLLECT THROUGH SMS

We may collect your mobile number, message content, timestamps, delivery status, and opt-in/opt-out events to provide and improve the service, troubleshoot issues, and comply with legal and carrier requirements.

PRIVACY & SHARING

We handle SMS data consistent with our Privacy Policy. We may share limited data with service providers (e.g., messaging platforms) solely to deliver messages on our behalf and as required by law.

ELIGIBILITY & YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

By opting in, you confirm that you are the subscriber or customary user of the provided mobile number and have authority to consent. Please notify us if your number changes or is reassigned.

CARRIER DISCLOSURES

Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Supported carriers may change without notice.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be posted here and become effective when published.
